CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES:

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (Livestock teams)- NEW ROLE - 4 days a week (c.30 hours)

We've created a role serving both livestock departments, The George Farm Vets and The George Pig Practice. It's therefore a role which will provide variety every day but which will prove invaluable as we continue to grow allowing flexibility to support the workloads where they are heaviest at any time. We envisage this being a role which would work best for the business being Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday but there may be an option to increase to 5 days depending on business needs and candidate requirements (should 4 days be too little).

VETERINARY OPPORTUNITIES AT THE GEORGE

We don't tend to advertise veterinary opportunities on our own web site. Most of our vets find us either through mutual contacts or EMS placements. We're aware that opportunities to work in independently owned practices are in decline. We have remained independent for many reasons, but top of the list revolves around clinical freedom and opportunities to progress, develop and influence the practice of which you are part. We also know that speed of decision making and working directly with their employers day to day is valued by many vets. We believe that The George is a great place to thrive in clinical practice through all stages of your career and if you are interested in joining us, please do get in touch with one of our species directors. You don't need to wait until we are actively recruiting - you never know what opportunities might be available.

Please be proactive and get in touch and stay on our radar!

EMS STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

We are always keen to host students seeing practice.  We aim to expose you to as much practical experience as possible to ensure your time with us is beneficial.  All we ask for is enthusiasm!  We take students in each of our four departments:  equine, farm, pig and small animal.  We hope that students seeing practice may be potential candidates for our internship programs in the future.  If you are interested in seeing practice at the George please fill in the application form below.  Once complete please email to the relevant department indicated:

Equine: jennie.scott@georgevetgroup.co.uk
Farm: sarah.metcalfe@georgevetgroup.co.uk
Pig: angie.reeves@georgevetgroup.co.uk
Small animal: jessica.hewitt@georgevetgroup.co.uk

WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES

At The George Veterinary Group we offer work experience as a week-long programme across most disciplines within the business. This allows us to present a more rounded approach to veterinary care covering pets, administration, nursing roles, and visits both at the Hospital as well as out "in the field" with ambulatory vets. We are pleased to take on any students who are genuinely interested in veterinary care and who want to learn more about what we do. Download further useful information here

We receive a lot of enquiries about opportunities for work experience, but if you would like to be considered then please email: workexperience@georgevetgroup.co.uk

PLEASE NOTE: OWING TO THE VOLUME OF REQUESTS MADE, WE ARE CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY FOR 2020 AND CAN ONLY CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FOR 2021 AND BEYOND

NOTE TO ALL APPLICANTS: Your cover letter is JUST as important as your C.V.

We're only looking for candidates who care; your cover letter tells us more than you realise about your suitability for a role within our team. With so many candidates competing for the one role (on average 30+), don't forget to sell what makes you the perfect candidate for the advertised role. We try to acknowledge every application within 72 hours of receipt. Not all candidates will be invited for interview and not always are roles offered at first interview. This can result in delays in responses for some candidates who may not have been offered an interview initially, while we consider further interviews.
